A Courtroom Observer’s Perspective: Judicial Retention Votes Matter

Lynell Gardner is a longstanding volunteer in JPEC’s Courtroom Observation Program. Volunteers observe, evaluate and report on judicial behavior in the courtroom, specifically as it relates to procedural fairness. Gardner recently shared her perspective on judicial retention decisions and being a JPEC volunteer, stating “…I write reports on whether judges listen and treat people with respect, how they explain their decisions, and if they appear impartial. I’ve seen some pretty amazing things.”
