Definitions
Vote Totals: JPEC has 13 voting commissioners. The vote total on a judge can be lower than 13 for several reasons, including an absense, a recusal, a disqualification, or an abstention. If a commissioner abstains, the Commission notes the abstention on the judge’s evaluation.
Performance Standards: JPEC evaluates a judge on the following eight standards:
- Legal Ability
- Integrity and Judicial Temperament
- Administrative Skills
- Procedural Fairness
- Public Discipline
- Ongoing Judicial Education
- Time Standards
- Mental and Physical Competence for Office

Survey Respondents Recommending Retention: The percentage of survey respondents who answered “Yes” to the question of whether they would recommend the judge be retained.
